App Frod Snooker Club

Welcome to the App Frod Snooker Club, home to a long-standing snooker community connected to both App Frod and the historic BSC Snooker Section. With high-quality tables, league competition, and a proud steelworks heritage, our snooker club remains an important part of the sporting life at Brumby Hall and Redbourn.

 

 

BSC Snooker Section – Inter-Departmental League

 

The BSC Snooker Section operates an Inter-Departmental Snooker League that has been running since the late 1980s. At its peak, the league featured 20+ teams across four divisions, complete with promotions, relegations, team cups, and singles/doubles competitions.

 

Brumby Hall Tables

 

Brumby Hall houses three additional snooker tables, purchased exclusively for the BSC league.
These tables are only available to BSC Snooker Section members and not to general App Frod membership.

 

Membership & Eligibility

 

The BSC Inter-Departmental League is traditionally for players who:

 

  • Work at the Scunthorpe Steel Works, or

  • Work for an associated company.

 

New members should ideally contact an existing player or team captain from their area of the works.
Those wishing to introduce a new team should speak with a committee member or attend the AGM / Registration Evening.

 

League Format

 

Each registered team may list up to 10 players, with 6 required for a match.
A standard team fixture consists of:

 

  • 6 singles frames

  • 3 doubles frames

 

While team numbers have declined in recent years due to retirements and department closures, the league continues to operate with the same competitive spirit and camaraderie it has always held.

 

Redbourn Snooker

 

In addition to Brumby Hall, Redbourn also forms part of the snooker community, continuing the long-standing connection between the club and steelworks players.

Member celebrating drum draw

Are you in the drum draw yet?

The App Frod Sports and Social Club Drum Draw was launched in 1962 and is open to all members. All money raised from the Drum Draw goes into providing and enhancing App Frod's sports and leisure facilities to be used by our members and the local community.

Each month's prizes range from GBP 50 to GBP 10,000.

Draws are held monthly, with a special £50,000 first prize at Christmas. Winners are notified in writing, and results are published on our Facebook page.
