Our History
Appleby Frodingham Social Club was established to support the growing community of workers at the Appleby-Frodingham steelworks, which played a central role in shaping Scunthorpe’s industrial landscape. As the workforce expanded in the early 20th century, the club became a vital social hub where steelworkers and their families could relax, socialise, and take part in recreational activities away from the demanding environment of the plant.
Over the decades, the club evolved into a thriving centre for community life, offering sports teams, live entertainment, family events, and a welcoming space for gatherings of all kinds. Today, it remains an important part of the local community-modernising its facilities while continuing to honour its heritage as a place that brings people together and celebrates the strong social spirit of the area.

Are you in the drum draw yet?
The App Frod Sports and Social Club Drum Draw was launched in 1962 and is open to all members. All money raised from the Drum Draw goes into providing and enhancing App Frod's sports and leisure facilities to be used by our members and the local community.
Each month's prizes range from GBP 50 to GBP 10,000.
Draws are held monthly, with a special £50,000 first prize at Christmas. Winners are notified in writing, and results are published on our Facebook page.
